Somehow, just saying summer ski jumping is summoning the ultimate double negative. Ski jumping without snow ….. WHAAAAT?

However for about 6 years now Courchevel has successfully hosted one of the FIS world cup events in the sweltering heat of the summer.

This year was no exception. Held over two days the men and women competed on the 120m and 90m hill respectively.

On Saturday the ladies raced in less than perfect weather conditions. Although initial forecasts of rain all day gave way to only several light showers.

The German Katharina Althaus won the Summer Ski Jumping World Cup in Courchevel, with a great jump up to 88,5m and 230,8 points. She beats the Japanese Sara Takanashi and Yuki Ito.

On Sunday, the best ski jumper of the summer season, Poland’s Dawid Kubacki won the race with 274,2 points thanks to a jump of 133,5m in the 1st run. Maciej Kot, who won last year in Courchevel, took 2nd place. Followed by Russia’s Denis Kornilov and Roman Koudelka from the Czech republic who shared 3rd place.
