![]() Just another normal day at the Ronnie! |
One of the things about living up a mountain is you dont really have a problem with flooding. If it rains heavily, and in the summer boy does it, you might have a small river running down the road but due to gradients and altitude the only people who need to worry live down in Moutiers and unless they work in the Carrefour supermarket where I do my bi-weekly shop they dont really matter. Really that's what comes from living on the ground floor figuratively speaking. In the time since Ive been back in the UK the term Severe weather warning has been an all too common occurrence on the news. When that means that a recent trip back from the cinema would be better handled with a vehicle fitted with watertight hull and a propeller rather than tyres. One of the few things I miss in France are regular trips to the cinema. Courchevel has two very nice little cinemas but their selection of VOs through out the winter are, due of the percentage of english viewers, somewhat limited. Despite having a big screen tv and a dvd collection that puts blockbuster to shame theres nothing like watching a film in the manner the director originally envisaged. When your local UK multiplex has 10 screen of everything in 3D and dolby surround. Scott Pilgrim vs the worldFor most films the theatrical trailer precedes its final release by a month or two. For a big blockbuster the trailer might also be preceded by a teaser. The earlier a trailer is release the higher the chance of additional trailers being released, each showing a little more footage. It can get to a point when all the good parts of a film are in the trailers and the other 87 minutes of "filler" are slightly disappointing. I think I saw the first trailer for Scott Pilgrim about 5 months ago, since then, being the geek I am, I have seen every trailer, featurette, interview of the film. Actually the only thing I hadnt seen were the original comic books AND even after all these potentially plot spoilers I thought the final product was amazing. Im not here to give you a full review, for that go to empireonline.com. All I can say us if you like a truely original romantic comedy, a good soundtrack, great visuals, martial arts, vintage video games, actually any video games, laugh out load funny stuff then go and see it.
