The foundations of the summit of the new Saulier lift from Meribel |
|
At the end of every season Courchevel seasonnaires take part in a crazy scavenger hunt type competition called the three valley. Where the organiser (me) works out testing routes around the 3 valleys which will cause the most exhaustion in the team. A favourite over many years was one of the last checkpoints at the top of the Saulier cable car. From Meribel valley the only way included a 100m trek up a slope. After a day of other challenges this usually is the final nail in the coffin. Unfortunately, thanks to the constant upgrade of the 3 valley lift system, I will have to rethink my strategy. From Meribel and Motteret 2 bubble lifts, the Pas du lac and Saulier, would converge on the top of the saulier, on the Meribel side. This summer the Saulier bubble lift top station has be demolished and moved to the other side of the Saulier next to the Saulier cable car. This means that people from Meribel have better access to Courchevel and walkers no longer need to walk up the slope to get from one lift to another. So it looks like I will have to find another locationThe editor |
