![]() There goes the Plantret chair |
|
Apart from the neighbours crane mentioned last week a cornucopia of other cranes have risen around Courchevel 1850. Usually below these structures are very large holes filled with a mixture of rebar and concrete. If you have ever skied down the stade and turned left towards the Plantret chair lift you will know it goes over a bridge outside the Cabichou hotel. Two small things have changed. 1. There is literally nothing after the bridge anymore and 2. There is no Plantret chair anymore. The Chabichou hole will eventually turn into the Chabichou underground sport centre and restaurant extension. The Plantret chair is currently being upgraded to a 6 man and everything from the end stations to the pylons have been removed. Moving further up the road there is a common phenomenon in alpine builders. The destruction of an old(er) chalet and the excavation of every bit of earth on and below the property to make as much use of, what I think is called, the black space. To the left of the Sivoliere hotel, where there used to be chalets and forest, there is now nothing. Below and behind the Bellecote hotel several new chalets should be finished before the winter. In the centre of the town the Tremplin restaurant have just poured a new concrete slab over what was a large hole, which will be a new basement. On the other side of town the new massive Kilimanjaro 2 development is looking, at least from the exterior, almost finished. At the entrance to 1850 the bus park has been greatly reduced in size due to the building of new raised pavements. This should make transfer days that extra bit difficult. Down in 1550 work on the new aquatic centre has started, where the tennis courts, volleyball courts and go-kart track used to be. For a full gallery of the destruction click hereThe editor |
