Not with a wimper but with a bang - Courchevel Enquirer
This is the way the season ends, this is the was the season ends, not with a wimper but with a bang. Other than misquoting TS Elliots ìThe hollow manî how else could you describe the closing night of a Courchevel landmark that is the Jump bar. To make it even more significant it marks the end of a decade being run by Timmo and Janie.
Past seasonnaires and employees who made an appearance included Dan(2004-07), Huib(1998-03), Matt(White Stuff), Hoppo(1999-00), Neil(Inghams), Ollie(Scott Dunn).
What started as a relatively civilised evening slowly deteriorated as more alcohol was imbibed. Luckily the main protagonist for such bedlam (see last night of ISBA), Simon Hooper, was on the short leash of Lisa through the night. In his place various member of Powder white and Ski Higher took turns shoring up the staff behind the bar. As the evening went on so the obscurity (and repulsiveness) of half empty bottles that have spent many months on the top shelf were finished off. From palatable bottles of Jager to almost untouched (for good reason) bottles of Aftershot they were all emptied.
The king table managed to survive over 30 people standing on it which can probably be put down to the ever increasing amount of metal work that has kept it together over 10 years.
If the sign of a good last night is linked to the state of the floor and of the employees at the end of the night then this was indeed very successful. With a liberal covering of beer & spirits the floor was only moderately damper than Harri who was an exceptionally good magnet for many thrown drinks.
There were of course casualties throughout the evening. Huib proved that he lost his seasonnaire stamina of years past and had to be carried home and losing the contents of his stomach by the bar. AJ(Scott Dunn) passed out by the king table and required the help of many of her co-workers to take her home.
