Courchevel in the summer

Ahhh Courchevel in the summer, where the ski resort takes a holiday from itís hectic 5 months winter season, where the relative tranquillity of melting snow and rutting marmottes is drowned out by the drone of cranes and cement mixer trucks. In the centre of 1850 alone there are 6 crane with more planned. As soon as the lifts close the builders arrive and start their redevelopment of the resort. Of course redevelopment is just a euphemism for demolition which is targeted at 1 or 2 aging hotels every year. This year itís the turn of the Potiniere which has been raised to its foundations leaving a rather large gap between the Dahu and the Jump. As itís filled in for next winter the new hotel will have gained another floor and another star.
Elsewhere in town the Saint Roch and Lana are further expanded. On the outskirts of town the large hole which appeared last year on the spot of the old petrol station is a mine of activity as concrete forms are franticly poured for the new Padisha development.
