As the weeks counted down to the second
Natives weekender a slight level of in trepidation entered the back of mind. For it would be the first time back on skis since the end of January when I had a nasty coming together with the last gate and some pesky safety netting from the
Natives workers race which resulted in the a break of my fibular bone just above the ankle and basically the end of my piste time in the ski season.
One of the benefits from living in the alps is that getting to Tignes is relatively simple and thanks to my fear of being late guaranteed that I would the first to arrive at the Loop bar.
The prize for the last went to MetrosnowÃs James Nathan who had to contest with a forgotten passport and the long arm of Moutiers constabulary and arrived over 7 hours later.
The morning of the Greeneye dual slalom revealed the groupÃs first injury. While returning from the Loop Jon Byrne fell down a rusty grate shredding his right leg in the process.
As the races began it became clear that most of the teams were very evenly matched with the possible exception of T4Nanny who not only didnÃt have a snowboarder on their team and surprisingly had very few nannies too but spent most of the day using their feminine wiles to sway the judgeÃs decisions to potential rule infringements. Bitter? Me? NO! Suffice to say they beat last year winning team 2-0 in the final.
